A lists of words that came to mind ( I made a schedule, but it's on paper):

These are things I want to research in my essay, together with the things I wrote above.

The essays about reality-tv are mostly about the differents in formats of the shows, the history of these formats and what the opinion of the media is. The thing that I want to write about is fact & fiction and how these two things are influencing eachother. Footage of real situations can be manipulated and because of that the meaning can be changed, it becomes fiction. This can also happen the other way around.. (fiction->fact)

People in reality shows such as Big Brother and de Gouden Kooi are real, but their environment is created. They also have to do assignments and there are several rules (see below) they have to obey. So are they still real, are their reactions still real?

* De dag begint om 09:30 uur met het ontbijt, vanaf 23:00 uur is er de mogelijkheid te gaan slapen.
* De Miljonairs mogen te allen tijde briefpost versturen naar de achterban.
* De contactpunten kunnen worden verdiend op meerdere manieren: Door middel van een populariteitsmeting, spellen of uitdagingen. Er mag ook onderling worden geruild.
* Met contactpunten kunnen de Miljonairs bellen en bezoek ontvangen.
* De Miljonairs mogen per dag 30 minuten televisie kijken, deze minuten mogen worden opgespaard.
* Bij vertrek van de Miljonair door het overtreden van de regels (en dus uitzetten door de programmaleiding) kan hij/zij worden vervangen door een nieuwe miljonair. De Miljonair verliest zijn/haar 10.000 euro borg. Deze wordt gestort op de rekening van een, door de Miljonair te bepalen, goed doel.
* Elke maand vindt een ontslagvergadering plaats waarin de Miljonairs de mogelijkheid hebben een mede-Miljonair unaniem weg te sturen. Wanneer een Miljonair unaniem wordt weggestemd, wordt hij/zij niet vervangen en krijgt hij/zij de borg van 10.000 euro terug.
* Privé-eigendommen, het woord zegt het al, de eigendommen van mede-Miljonairs zijn privé . Het is niet toegestaan daaraan te komen. Dit geldt voor alle privé-eigendommen zoals kleding, post, studiemateriaal, foto’s etcetera
* Er is een gezamenlijke contactpuntenpot. Iedere maand wordt deze pot aangevuld tot 500 punten. Iedereen mag de punten gebruiken, maar dan moet er wel unaniem worden beslist. Hiermee vervalt het recht om punten van elkaar te lenen.
* Drie keer per jaar mag één van de Miljonairs de Villa maximaal 12 uur verlaten. De Miljonairs bepalen unaniem of dit verzoek tot verlof wordt gehonoreerd. Het gaat om situaties die erg belangrijk zijn in een mensenleven. Het kan gaan om bijvoorbeeld een huwelijk, begrafenis of ernstige ziekte van iemand in de familie- of vriendenkring.

- Less then 2 weeks ago I contacted Hotel Modern, to ask if I could do an interview with them. They agreed and the interview took place last Wednesday. I have spoken to Arlène Hoornweg, who is one of the actors of Hotel Modern. She showed me photographs of several plays they did (Kamp, De man met de 5 vingers, De grote oorlog) and I had the opportunity to ask her all the questions I had. I recorded the interview and now I will analyse it to see which parts are the most interesting en useful for my essay.

What I've done last week:

- Thursday I went to Utrecht, to see the latest play of Hotel Modern, Rococo∞
After the play we (me and some other students) had a conversation with Herman Helle and Pauline Kalker, the actors.
A list of what I have to do very soon:
1. figure out where I want to write my essay about..
2. make a few more studio’s for my project
3. decide where the content of my shows will consist of..
4. make puppets
5. figure out if this program is useful for my project --> FreeJ∞
6. Test everything!!

After my first ideas, I got a little stuck in my thinking progress. The idea of building my own studio seemed like a good plan. But what should be the content of it?
Last Tuesday we talked about this problem. And the solution was to start making and quit thinking. The content should be something where I have to worry about in a later stage. And probably this part will come up during making the setting.
Riek mentioned Rieks Swarte, he is a theatre director and also designs the décors of the plays.

Annemieke told me about Hotel Modern. The performers use models and finger cameras for their plays and movies.

I think these people are a very big inspiration for me and what the do can be an example for my project.
First I wanted to make a big studio, like the one in the clip I posted earlier. But I didn't want to be broadcasted myself. Now I think it would be much nicer if I would build a model of a studio and use puppets as hosts for my online shows.

I really like his way of working, he adds handicraft to his movies and video clips.

This clip was the first thing that came to my mind when the Geuzen were telling us about the subject of the upcoming trimester. I would like to make my own 'studio', from here I can broadcast my own 'tv show'.
The content of my show can consist of short clips (with al kinds of subjects), VJ performances, music, art etc. The question is if I literally will build a studio, or if this is going to be a website. Or maybe there are more options, this I will have to find out..
